2:30 p.m. update
The person who died during an officer involved shooting early this morning in Caldwell County was 52-year-old Roy Lee Minton of 1211 Dudley Shoals Road.
Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputies have been called to the home multiple times over the past few years on domestic related calls.
The North Carolina SBI’s investigation into the events that occurred last night is continuing. Any details of the actual event will not be released while the investigation is ongoing.
8:45 a.m. Update
One person died as the result of the officer involved shooting in Caldwell County early this morning. The identity of that person is not being officially released pending the results of an autopsy and notification of all family members.
During the event, one (1) Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputy fired his weapon. That deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation. The deputy’s name will not be released at this time.

Deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic call at 1211 Dudley Shoals Road in the southern part of the County at 1:23 am today.
There was an officer involved shooting during the call. No sheriff’s deputies were injured in the event.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) is in charge of the investigation and any further information regarding the incident will come from their office.
