Caldwell County Emergency Services has set up an informational telephone line where residents can access a recording that will provide them with the latest information regarding the areas with storm damage. That number is 828-426-8500.
Residents may also call 828-426-8605 or 828- 426-8606 to report their damage to their property.
Residents are asked to be patient with the emergency crews as they work to clear the roadways and repair power lines.
As of this morning, there have been 121 homes damaged in the Grace Chapel area. There are still homes that emergency crews have not been able to reach to determine damage.
As of 11:30 am, there are no reports of serious injuries.
Crews are using bull dozers and heavy equipment to clear trees to reach another 20 to 30 homes. Those homes are on:
- Buena Vista Drive
- Bartley Road
- Fairchild Place
- Sandbar Road
The Grace Chapel Road from highway 321 to near the Grace Chapel Fire Department is closed to all but emergency crews and residents needing to access their homes due to an emergency until 8 p.m. There is a main power line that is down and the area too dangerous to access.
Other roads and developments that remain closed are:
- Parts of Charley Little Road near Petra Mill Road.
- Lakeview Terrace
- South Lakes Drive
- North Lakes Drive
- Timberlane Terrace
- River Bend
- Gold Creek
- Three Assessment Teams are surveying the area for the extent of damage.
The shelter at South Caldwell High School remains open.
