With a record 48 companies scheduled to attend and over 2,000 immediate or future available job openings, the 12th Caldwell is Hiring event is set for Thursday, April 14 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir. For the first time in the event’s history, organizers have had to close off employer registrations citing maximum capacity at the civic center.
Sponsored by the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission – in partnership with NCWorks and Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute – Caldwell is Hiring began in December 2010 and has continued two times per year since. During that time, more than 8,000 job-seekers have attended.
The upcoming Caldwell is Hiring features an array of career opportunities that includes traditional and advanced manufacturing, logistics, transportation, warehouse and material handling, retail and service, meat processing, pharmaceuticals, industrial maintenance, health care, quality control, sales and management.
“Not only is this by far the most companies we’ve ever had for Caldwell is Hiring, it’s also the most variety of companies and jobs we have yet to have,” Caldwell County Economic Development Commission Executive Director Deborah Murray said. “On April 14, you can actually come and have a face-to-face interview with as many of the 48 companies as you want. Now that is opportunity!”
Murray added that she is pleased to see companies from neighboring counties attending the event. She noted that Caldwell is Hiring is not restricted to Caldwell residents or Caldwell businesses. “This is designed to provide all Caldwell residents with an opportunity to work and all employers an opportunity to fill their open positions.”
