Child Health and Immunizations Services for birth-18

Child Health is made up of four divisions.  Programs provide field service to any child birth to 21 years of age in the home, daycare or school setting.

  • Child Service Coordination is a program that identifies at-risk children birth to five and matches them with a public health nurse.
  • The public health nurse works with the family to coordinate services, due to medical, social or environmental reasons, that the child needs.
  • Day Care program is Smart Start funded. It provides health care and education to all registered/licensed day care centers and homes in Caldwell County.
  • School Health program works with 13,000 plus students enrolled in Caldwell County School System. Services include vision and dental screenings/follow-up, immunization up-dates for sixth graders, health education programs, sick/injury call and management of high-risk medical needs children. Weekly visits are provided.
  • The Immunization program insures all medical providers in Caldwell County receive and follow current immunization guidelines. Immunizations are given at numerous sites, including both health department clinics. All children are tracked to insure that they are properly immunized by age 2.
