Frequently Asked Questions

 1)   Q.  What if I can't find 4 people to be on my team?

      A.  That is ok, we can help match you up with a team.

2)  Q.  If I am only trying to win the "individual grand prize" then why do I

          need a team?

     A.  The purpose for having a team is for the support that a team offers and

to hold you accountable.  People are more likely to show up for things if

they have a team that is relying on them to be there.  Ultimately, there

will only be one person to win the "individual grand prize," but it will be

much easier if you have people cheering you on along the way.  This may

also create some friendly competition among your team that may help

          with your weight loss.

3)  Q.  What if my BMI is under 26?

     A.  If your BMI is under 26 then you are not eligible for the $400.00 prize,

but you are eligible to participate in the monthly challenges to try to earn

points to win the "team grand prize"

4)  Q.-Are there two different challenges:  Individual vs. Team??

     A.  No, Biggest Loser is team challenge.  The reason we have two different

grand prizes is because not everyone is eligible for the $400.00

"individual grand prize," but everyone is eligible to earn points to win the

          "team grand prize"

5)  Q.  Why are monthly challenges optional?

     A.  They are optional because it may be difficult for someone, who is

overweight or who may have other health problems, to participate.  That

is why it is not required, however, if your BMI is under 26 you have no

choice other then to attend monthly challenges because that is how you

can earn points to win prizes.  If your BMI is greater than 26 then you are

eligible for both the individual grand prize and the team grand prize if

your team decides they can/want to participate in the monthly

          challenges.

6)  Q.  The optional monthly challenges seem too hard.

     A.  They are hard, but you can earn a point just for showing up!  You only

have to do what you can.  If you can't run, you may walk.  The

challenges are meant to be fun and challenging.  Remember that being

more physically active will help you lose weight!

7)  Q.  I don't understand the points.

     A.  You can earn points by participating in the optional monthly challenges.

The points will qualify you for the "team grand prize."  Each person on

your team earns a point just for showing up.  If someone on your team

wins the challenge then your team will earn an extra point.  There is a

possibility for your team to earn a total of 5 points per challenge if they

all show up and someone on your team wins.

8)  Q.  Are the education classes and the challenges the same thing?

     A.  No.  If you have a BMI of 26 or greater and are participating for a chance

to win the "individual grand prize" then the educational classes are

required for you.  No points will be awarded for attending educational

classes, however, you must attend one per month to remain eligible for

          the $400.00.

9)  Q.  Why is this challenge so different from challenges in the past?

     A.  "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always

get what you've always gotten."  The wellness committee is looking to

make changes that are sustainable.  If you lose weight or become more

physically active then you are less likely to suffer from chronic diseases

and ultimately that is our main goal.  We decided that we needed to

change things up and give people the tools they need to become

healthier.  That is why this challenge is so involved.  Losing weight is not

an easy task and it is going to take lots of support and education to

          make sustainable changes.

We are up for the challenge, are you???
