Medicaid Transportation

Purpose

The Medicaid Transportation program provides transportation for eligible Medicaid recipients to and from Medicaid-covered services.

Eligibility

Medicaid recipients who have "blue card" Medicaid with no deductible or a pink card (for pregnant women), and demonstrate a need, are eligible for transportation services.

Financial Guidelines

Once the recipient meets blue/pink card eligibility requirements for Medicaid, they are automatically eligible for Medicaid Transportation.

Application Procedure

A form for Medical Transportation Assistance and a Notice of Rights is completed during the Medicaid application interview. The client may then contact the Transportation Coordinator prior to appointments. Transportation is arranged with the nearest provider and the least expensive means suitable and appropriate to meet the individual client's needs.

Special Information

Family members or friends may receive gas vouchers for transporting Medicaid recipients to medical appointments. Others may be transported by Caldwell County Area Transit System (CCATS) or taxi.
