Tax Office
The Tax Administrator's Office is a multi-function office, charged with the responsibility of maintaining records on all real and personal property in Caldwell County. These records are kept for the purpose of assessing, billing, and collecting ad valorem taxes. The office operates with a staff of 20 full-time employees in six departments: Administrative, Vehicle Tax, Listing/Billing, Tax Collections, Mapping/Transfers, and Appraisal/Revaluation. In addition to county taxes, the office bills and collects taxes for the rescue squad, 14 fire districts and three municipalities: Town of Sawmills, Town of Rhodhiss, and the Village of Cedar Rock.
Caldwell County's last revaluation became effective on Jan. 1, 2005. The next revaluation is being conducted in-house and will become effective Jan. 1, 2013.
