The Land Records Department is responsible for the mapping of property parcels in the county, as well as the maintenance of the GIS base map. The Department also maintains ownership records of parcels for tax purposes. Because Caldwell County is on a permanent listing system, real property owners are not required to list ownership of property; notification of a property transfer is made when the deed is recorded, and taxes are billed the the property owner as of January 1 of the tax year.
