The Vehicle Section is responsible for the processing and preparation of vehicle tax notices. Motor vehicles are billed to the registered owner three months following the renewal month and are due the first day of the fourth month. These renewals are valued, sitused, billed and mailed monthly per the tape of registered owners processed by the Department of Motor Vehicles. You may appeal the value of your vehicle prior to the due date. If the vehicle has been owned less than one year, you may provide a bill of sale. If owned over one year, you are required to submit the dealer appraisal form before the due date. Please see our online form section for a Caldwell County dealer appraisal form. You may appeal the situs within 12 months of the bill date.
