Voting Precinct Changes for Lovelady, Hudson and Collettsville

October 1, 2015

The Caldwell County Board of Elections recently received approval from the North Carolina State Board of Election for some precinct changes designed to better accommodate the voter.

The majority of the changes will be to Lovelady Precinct 15 which is renamed Lovelady Precinct 34. Voters who had to travel miles out of their area to vote will now be able to vote at Grace Chapel Fire Department as part of the new Lovelady Precinct 34. The NC State Board of Election requires name changes for precincts when lines are redrawn.

The detailed changes are as follows:

Lovelady Precinct 15 has line changes and the name will change to Lovelady Precinct 34. Voters that live on the right side of Grace Chapel Road and below Looper Road will now be a part of this precinct. Also, voters that live to the right of where Looper Road intersects with Old Petra Mill Road will also become part of this precinct. Lovelady Precinct 34 will vote at the Grace Chapel Fire Department at 4548 Grace Chapel Road in Granite Falls.

Lovelady Precinct 28 will be renamed Lovelady Precinct 35. The only difference in this precinct is the voters affected by the line changes detailed in change number 1 above. This precinct will continue to vote at Dudley Shoals Elementary School at 1500 Dudley Shoals Road in Granite Falls.

Hudson Precinct 05 and Hudson Precinct 06 have been combined and are now known as Hudson Precinct 33. Voters which previously voted at Hudson Town Hall will now vote at the McCreary Recreation Center at 450 Redwood Street, Hudson, as part of Hudson Precinct 33.

Voters that vote at Globe/Johns River/Mulberry /Wilson Creek 07 that previously voted at Collettsville Elementary School will now vote at the Collettsville Fire Department at 5430 Adako Road.

Caldwell County will be conducting Municipal elections for those citizens of the Municipality of Blowing Rock that are within the Caldwell County borders.

All citizens affected will receive notification by mail of the changes.

One-Stop (Early) voting will start Thursday, October 22 and will end on Saturday, October 31. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
