Today, Caldwell County learned of its 11th COVID-19-related death and its sixth outbreak in a congregate living facility.

The patient, who passed away, was over the age of 75, and had been hospitalized. The death was not associated with any of the county’s outbreaks.

Lenoir Health Care had one employee and one resident test positive for COVID-19, which meets the state’s standard for an outbreak.  “We have tested all of our residents and staff and are working closely with the Caldwell County Health Department to stop the spread of the virus in their facilities,” said Mirana Lambert, Executive Director of Lenoir Health Care.

Sixteen COVID-19 cases have been reported today in Caldwell County — 12 in the 28645 Zip code, two in the 28630, and two in 28638. Three patients are under the age of 17; four are between 18 and 24; three are between 25 and 49; four are between 50 and 64; and two are between 65 and 74.
