Tom Bumgarner, Caldwell County Building Inspector (left) is presented the 13th Annual Continuing Education Instructor of the Year award by Dr. John Kelly, Chairman of the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors.

"Through the years Tom has been a consistent resource for our industry, serving as an educator and mentor to many electricians and contractors. Tom is a continuing education electrical instructor for the Caldwell County Inspection Department. Tom’s courses are an asset to those in the industry and those who seek quality continuing education services. Tom is a vital part of keeping contractors informed and up to date on electrical code and procedural changes. He instructs courses approved by NC Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors.
Tom is an individual who sets a shining example as a continuing education instructor. He has been a building inspector for Caldwell County since 1989, attaining the title of Chief Electrical Inspector. He has been a member of the International Association of Electrical inspectors for more than 25 years. He is a licensed contractor in all trades and he has achieved level three certification in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building and fire. He was instrumental in organizing the Caldwell County Electrical Contractors Association and continuing education course for Caldwell County Inspections in 1992 and remains the driving force behind the program today. He also introduced the county’s award to the Electrical Contractor of the Year.
Tom strives to help the Electrical Industry stay on top of the newest changes and stay productive in the changes of our Industry.
He is a devoted father of two Arron and Sarah Beth and an avid golfer.
The Board would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Bumgarner’s continued dedication and service for being an instructor for the Board’s Continuing Education Program.
