The Caldwell County Health Department confirmed three COVID-19-related deaths today. Two patients were over the age of 75, and the other was between the ages of 65 and 74. Two of the patients were reported to have underlying health conditions.

Today, 58 cases — 31 in the 28645 Zip code, 16 in 28630, 10 in 28638, and one in 28601 — were reported. Eight patients are under the age of 17; 23 are between 25 and 49; 19 patients are between 50 and 64; four are between 65 and 74; and four are over the age of 75.

The Health Department has a waiting list for people who wish to receive the vaccine. Anyone can sign up for the waiting list anytime online at vaccine.caldwellcountync.org, or people 65 and older can sign up by calling 828-426-8486 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interpreters are available to assist callers, and a Spanish version of the online form can be accessed at vaccine.caldwellcountync.org/vaccine-form-spanish.

Please note, it may take two to three weeks for people in this age group to receive a call back for an appointment.
