Caldwell County recently selected Leslie Griffin as Library Director.
“I am honored to be appointed Director of the Caldwell County Public Library, and to have the opportunity to continue to serve our community in this permanent capacity,” said Griffin. “I believe that library staff are the stewards of an essential public resource, and as such we are dedicated to providing the best information, access, engagement and service to all. We are very lucky to have a wonderful staff, and to have great support from the County Commissioners, the CCPL Board of Trustees, our Friends of the Library, and Caldwell County Administration, and other Departments.”
Griffin began her career with Caldwell County Public Library in 2017 when she accepted a position as Adult Services Librarian. In 2019, she was named Technical Services Librarian and was appointed Interim Library Director in 2020.
“Much of my tenure as Interim Director has been to work with our team to innovate methods for continuing to safely provide library materials and services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Griffin. “As Caldwell County Public Library transitions back to regular in-person service, opens the new Southern Branch, and monitors the impact that COVID-19 makes upon our community, we are taking this opportunity to apply experiences our customers have shared and the lessons we’ve learned to evaluate and calibrate services, collections, spaces, and programs to be most responsive to our customers’ evolving and diverse needs.”
Griffin entered library service in 2006 with the District of Columbia Public Library. She began as a Library Associate, was promoted to Librarian, and ultimately served as Branch Manager and Adult Services Manager until 2017.
Griffin holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and earned a Master of Library and Information Science from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
