Hello, my name is Kevin Bean and I am honored to be the Sheriff of Caldwell County. I was born and raised in Hudson,NC to the Reverend Harold and Juanita Bean. I grew up hunting and fishing which I still enjoy today and have developed a strong commitment to the right to keep and bear arms. I joined the work force as a teenager at Broyhill Furniture Industries in 1981.
In 2003, in the midst of the furniture industry decline, I worked during the day and put myself through Basic Law Enforcement Training at night. I began working as a reserve deputy under Sheriff Gary Clark’s administration. I have now worked for the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office for over 2 decades holding every ranking position in the patrol division. I was then appointed Chief Deputy by Sheriff Alan Jones in 2019 which is the highest ranking appointed officer at the Sheriff’s Office in charge of overseeing daily operations for the entire office, and I now hold the office of Sheriff.
During those decades, I have spoken with and supported victims of practically every type of crime including felonious assaults against my own co workers. I plan to work side by side with the citizens and my staff to maintain law and order in Caldwell County and look forward to developing better relationships with our communities and to be accessible to the citizens of this great county.
