Filing for March 3, 2020 Primary Elections

Filing is open from Tuesday, December 2 at noon until Friday, December 20 at noon.

Candidates for the following seats can file to run at the Caldwell County Board of Elections Office located on the lower level of the Caldwell County Resource Center, 120 Hospital Avenue, Lenoir, NC:

  • Caldwell County Board of Commissioners — 3 seats. The cost to file is $57.
  • State Representative. Filing cost is $140.
  • State Senator. Cost to file is $140

Judges races are required to file at the State Board of Elections in Raleigh but must get registration information from their local Board of Elections Office. Seats up for election include:

  • District Court Judge. The cost to file is $1,220
  • State Court of Appeals Judge. Filing cost is $1,465
  • Superior Court Judge. Cost to file is $1,386.

We are waiting to hear when the congressional maps will be approved so the congressional candidates can file.

Please note: Candidates for the Soil & Water Board of Supervisors will not file until Monday, June 8, 2020 at noon. Filing for those seats ends Monday, July 6, 2020 at noon.
