Harrison is an Electronic Storage Device Detection K9 assigned to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

Harrison’s talents are vital in solving cases involving digital evidence, where he can locate electronic devices capable of storing or transmitting data, including cell phones, laptops, hard drives, USB drives, SIM Cards and micro-SD cards, and more.

Harrison primarily assists the Caldwell County Investigation Division’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

When Harrison is not searching for hidden electronic devices, he enjoys providing comfort to victims or others because he is also a trained therapy dog.

Harrison was graciously donated through a grant by OUR Rescue and trained by Jordan Detection K9 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

K9 EGON

Breed: German Shepard/Malinois Mix

Handler Corporal Chase Bowman


K9 Egon is certified in Patrol and Narcotics work. His handler is Cpl. Chase Bowman on the 30’s shift. He became certified and placed into service in February 2025. He began his formal Police Training at Highland Kennels, and they have completed 600+ hours so far. On his off-duty time, Egon likes walks around the woods by his house, playing with his toys, and spending time out of the car. K9 Egon doesn’t like people who bring narcotics into our county and anyone who tries to hurt his daddy.

K9 Jade

Jade has spent her time at the Sheriff’s Office assisting with numerous drug seizures and tracking down wanted suspects. Jade is energetic and has a serious drive to work. Jade is a dual-purpose patrol dog and loves every minute of it! She is loyal and highly attached to her handler and the other Deputies on the shift she is assigned too. Jade is certified in narcotics detection, tracking and other various patrol activities.

K9 Lesi

Breed: Malinios
D.O.B.: 8/11/2021
Handler: Deputy James Curtis


Lesi is a dual-purpose Dutch Shepard. Known for her intense drive to work and loyalty to not only her handler but to her toys. She is the newest addition to the Sheriff’s Office and has proven herself to be a valued asset in assisting with the seizure of narcotics off the streets of Caldwell County. Her service doesn’t stop at just narcotics but assisting in finding suspects and missing endangered persons as well.

Deputy Smuda  K9 Raven

K9 Raven has made a powerful impact with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office. Raven is a working line German Shepherd and Raven began her formal Police Training and became certified together through Highland Kennels, a local company here in NC. joined the Sheriff’s Office and her handler, Deputy Smuda in February 2025. 

Her youthful energy is matched only by her relentless drive and focus on the job.  

K9 Raven is certified in tracking/trailing, illicit narcotics detection, and article searches. She is also in the final stages of earning her certification in suspect apprehension. 

Despite her young age, she has quickly proven herself as a valuable asset to our agency. Days after certification, Raven has already participated in multiple successful drug operations resulting in taking several drug dealers off the streets. 

Raven is highly attached to her handler and enjoys coming to work each day. She approaches each task with enthusiasm and determination. Her curiosity, commitment, and courage embody the spirit of the K-9 unit at the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
